New Interior Secretarial Order #3398 Protects American Archaeological Heritage

The Society for American Archaeology thanks Interior Secretary Deb Haaland for issuing Interior Secretarial Order #3398, “Revocation of Secretary’s Orders Inconsistent with Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis.”
The order restores important protections for the archaeological heritage of America, helping to preserve archaeological and historic sites and artifacts, alongside historic structures and buildings, which have been saved from destruction through the Section 106 process.
