Improving Safety at the SAA 85th Annual Meeting

May 03, 2019

SAA has an important update regarding meeting safety that will impact the SAA 85th Annual Meeting in Austin, TX.

The SAA Board of Directors has approved an update to participation requirements. All potential attendees will be required to certify they have not and have not ever been the subject of a negative finding on a Title IX investigation and do not have and have not had a current or pending disciplinary action, such as suspension or termination of registration resulting from a Register of Professional Archaeologists' grievance investigation.

We are in the process of translating this notice so that all prospective presenters can read the conditions of participation. As soon as the translations are complete, we will open the submissions portal on Thursday, May 9th at 10:00 am Eastern Time.

SAA Task Force on Sexual and Anti-Harassment Policies and Procedures

The SAA Board has established a task force to review and update the SAA’s existing policies on sexual harassment (2015) and anti-harassment (2018) and the procedures for implementing these policies. We welcome members indicating if they would like to be considered to help the Task Force with this work. We look forward to the Task Force's recommendations and to improving our Meeting.
