    Topic: SAA Social Studies Outreach Possibilities. This 1990 correspondence from Alice Kehoe (Chair of the SAA Public Education Committee previously undertaking outreach and now member of the SAA Task Force on Education) to Ed Friedman (Task Force Chair) proposes several measures that SAA could undertake to the community of Social Studies Educators: forming an alliance for teacher institutes similar to that what the National Geography and National History Associations have done; creating disks with archaeology resources for distribution through social studies teacher networks, offering booths with informational fliers at national social studies conferences and encouraging archaeologists to present at sectional and regional social studies conferences, a recommendation to get involved with the national curriculum guidelines being proposed for history, join with other archaeology concerns undertaking social studies teacher programming.

    Letter from Alice Kehoe to National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) Standards Committee Chair with the Formal Education Subcommittee of the SAA PEC and the subcommittee's focus on preparing curriculum guidelines for teacher manuals for including archaeology in K-12 schools, the SAA concern to reflect the NCSS Curriculum Guidelines, and an offer to assist NCSS when and where needed.

    Letter from Alice Kehoe to the NCSE President to acquaint NCSE with the Formal Education Subcommittee of the SAA PEC and the subcommittees focus on preparing curriculum guidelines for teacher manuals for including archaeology in K-12th grade. "Archaeology fits most obviously in social studies programs, but as you and Genie Scott realize, it can also fit well into science programs.  Our subcommittee will welcome suggestions on cooperation with NCSE."
