30 Second Spot: The 19th Annual Old Cahawba Festival will be held Saturday May 9th at the site of Alabama’s first capital city. The festival will feature music, dancing, arts & crafts, an archaeology fair, and a beautiful baby context. Cahawba is located west of Selma on Hwy. 22. Festivities will last from 9 to 5. 60 Second Spot: Celebrate the revival of Alabama’s most famous ghost town,by attending the 19th Annual Old Cahawba Festival, Saturday May 9th. The fun will last from 9 to 5. Historic games, dancers, good food, and costumed interpreters will kept the kids busy, while you browse among 100 quality art and craft vendors. Or - just relax, enjoy the beautiful historic setting, and listen to a day’s worth of entertainment. From 10 until 2, you can chat with archaeologists and indulge your curiosity about artifacts at an “archaeology fair.” And everyone in attendance can help chose the festival’s most beautiful baby at 11 am.
All this an more can be enjoyed for only $3 for an entire carload of people. Plus, all proceeds will help save the site of our first official state capital. Join the festivities by traveling west of Selma on Hwy. 22. Go 9 miles out and take the first left after crossing the Cahaba river. Follow the signs down a quiet country road.
