Presentation of the 1999 SAA Public Service Award to Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt by SAA President Keith Kintigh Featuring two new awards An award of $500 is presented in memory of the late Dienje M. E. Kenyon to support the research of women archaeologists in the early stages of their graduate training. This year's inaugural award will be made to a student pursuing research in zooarchaeology, which was Kenyon's specialty. The new Student Paper Award is designed to recognize the best student research paper presented at the Annual Meeting. Papers will be evaluated on both the quality of the arguments and data presented and the paper's contribution to our understanding of some aspect of archaeology. |
