Disasters such as the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska have an impact on archaeological sites. During clean-up of the valdez oil spill, the state of Alaska monitered shoreline clean-up not only to ensure the protection of natural resources, but also to insure that archaeological sites were protected.
