To facilitate member-to-member communication, Angela Gordon has
set up an FPIG Conference Room for us under the aegis of the
Café Utne.
What is the Café Utne?
Objectives
The Café is the most active online community/conferencing system
in the United States. Members come from all over the world. This
year, the Café has been nominated for a Webby Award for best
community. The conferencing software—Motet—is
user-friendly and easy to use. It takes only a few minutes to
learn. You do not need to know any html, even to post links to
other websites.
Membership is free and registration takes only a few minutes.
The Café is not real-time chat and it is not a bulletin board;
it is somewhere in between, but better than both. All
conversations are permanently archived and available to members.
What can this system provide?
A way to communicate between conferences
A place to post links to interesting web sites
A place to post pictures of materials we're
working with now
A space to build a joint bibliography
And … ?
