The Society for American Archaeology’s Committee on Ethics invites you to participate in:
The Sixth Annual Ethics Bowl
Join us for this fun and festive debate-style competition, in which teams of students present ways of responding to hypothetical case studies that illustrate a range of ethical dilemmas. Every year, we line up prestigious judges and give out great prizes such as books, memberships, and field equipment!
Graduate and undergraduate students are invited to organize a team of 3-5
participants with a faculty advisor for the SAA’s 74th Annual Meeting in Atlanta,
Georgia. For more information about the Ethics Bowl, contact: Dru McGill (
dremcgil@indiana.edu)
Congratulations to the past Ethics Bowl winners:
2008 – University of California-Berkeley
2007 - Brown University
2006 - San Diego State University
2005 - University of Arizona
2004 - Indiana University/University of Nevada-Reno
We encourage you to include previous sets of Ethics Bowl cases as integral
parts of your archaeology courses or activities. Case studies from previous years make wonderful tools for
teaching or materials for team practice sessions in preparation for the actual Ethics Bowl!
