Educational Materials Available from SAA

The Society for American Archaeology offers two brochures that have been developed to answer frequently asked questions about archaeology. In addition, the SAA's Public Education Committee has developed a variety of resources to help educators incorporate archaeology into classroom teaching. Many of these materials are now available on the SAA web site. Resources marked with a * are available in print format and can be ordered from SAA.

  • Roster of Network Coordinators
    List of individuals representing nearly every state and province in North America, who can be contacted for details about local archaeology education resources and activities.
  • Teaching Archaeology: A Sampler for Grades 3 to 12
    Mini teaching manual with lesson plans and resource information to help educators introduce archaeology to precollegiate youths.
  • Guidelines for the Evaluation of Archaeology Education Materials
    A set of suggested criteria and useful facts to apply when evaluating or developing educational materials on archaeology.
