Introducing the First SAA Annual Meeting Student Day!

The purpose of student day is to provide an opportunity for students to sample the SAA Annual Meeting and for the SAA community to welcome new students to the experience. On the Saturday of the annual meeting, students registered for Student Day may attend any annual meeting events included in the regular registration fee (organized symposia, general sessions, poster sessions, Exhibit Hall, etc. ) in addition to the special Student Day activities developed and hosted by the Student Affairs Committee. The Committee is hosting a series of Learning Labs in the morning open to all student attendees, not just for those students registered for Student Day.

A special registration fee for Student Day is available for through advance registration or onsite in Honolulu for $49.

Student Day registrants may pick up their registration materials only on Saturday, April 6. Student Day credentials will be valid only for Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Special Student Day Activities Include:

6:30 am: Student Day Registration Opens
8:00 am: Kick-Off
Meet other students, and representatives from various SAA groups.
9:00 am: Learning Lab 1 - The SAA and Your Future Career in Archaeology
How to plan your career in archaeology, and how to use the tools the SAA provides
10:00 am: Learning Lab 2 – Getting the Job: Walking through the Application Process
Walk through the basics of applying for a job, from writing the initial email to composing the cover letter, and getting the interview
11:00 am: Learning Lab 2 – Working the Room: How to Network without Getting Overwhelmed
How to put your best self forward and overcome shyness, as well as contacting other departments or institutions
Noon: Lunch Break
1:00 pm: Tour of the Convention
1:30 pm: Free time for sessions, bookroom, and CRM expo
4:00 pm: Wrap-up
